Wheeling majestically far above me in the sky on Saturday this Wedge-tailed Eagle was searching for tucker with its mate (just out of view in this shot). Surprisingly, these massive birds are usually actually searching for carrion rather than live prey.

    nice shot Gary, like how hes not in the center.. got a shot of a turkey vulture otherday.,. nearly chit myself when he just about landed in my yard

    Thanks for the comments Leisa and Julia. I should point out this was shot at 640mm (my big L series at full zoom) and then cropped down fairly substantially. This bad boy was a LONG way up in the heavens.
