Another shot from a recent trip to the Alfred Cove river sanctuary. The Pied Oystercatcher is a reasonably common wader around Australian estuaries and waterways. They are non migratory but locally nomadic. True to their name the rather delicate looking beak is capable of cracking molluscs off rocks with ease.
