A black swan sits motionless while all the world rushes around. Today I finally decided to do something a little bit more creative with my site template. I hope you all like it. Camera: Lumix FZ10 :: Shutter: 2 sec. :: Aperture: F/5.6 :: Postprocessing: Levels, cropping, some sharpening :: ISO: 50 :: FL: 72 mm (420mm) :: Flash: not fired ::

Really awesome effect! The orange/red of the bill really catches the eye.

How on earth ... well done, this is a great shot. I've never seen black swans before but they certainly add to the surreal nature of this shot.

Very good use of a longer than normal shutterspeed. Creates a cool effect on this shot :)

I should point out there is no trickery in this shot. Other than some painted sharpening around the motionless swan. I took well over a hundred pics at this pond, some have been posted in the last few days. My entry for the "crowded" photofriday is similar; amongst the blurs, 2 ducks happen to be sitting still for the duration of the shot. I couldn't have done it with film! Would have cost me $20-30 to capture such an unusual event.

This is fantastic. I can see why it took over 100 shots to get this one. The motion on all the other swans in contrast to the one that is relatively still is awesome, and that blast of red is just incredible. Great shot.
