The common bronzewing is a delightful Australian native. Distinctive both for the iridescent panels on their wings, and the dramatic clatter they make when they take to flight. The noise is the result of their wing-tips actually touching each other as they flap. The iridescence is from light difraction - the same optical properties you see with light reflected on a CD.
