Well this guy looks more like a striped marsh frog, but they are supposed to only occur on the Eastern side of Australia, so my best guess is that it is, in fact, the western banjo frog, known by its more onomatopoeic title as the pobblebonk. I never heard the call while we were at the hotel where he enjoyed the fountain and small pond. Gary Beilby is a Perth mobile vet who sees a range of wildlife including frogs.
