The golden orb weaver (Nephila sp.) is an iconic Australian spider. We see plenty of them on the West coast - but I was amazed at the size of these guys and the size and number of their amazing webs around Brisbane. Sadly I didn't manage to get any pictures of some of the power lines along the roads festooned with massive webs. This one was spotted in The Gap - a suburb of Brisbane.
