A highly successful generalist, the Fan-tailed Cuckoo is found as far North as Shark Bay here in West Aus, but also on the East coast and in Indonesia, New Zealand, Fiji and a bunch of other Pacific Islands. We see them scurrying up and down Jarrah tree trunks slurping up the bugs that eek a living on their trunks. They always appeared quite specialised for the task to me, so it impresses me to learn they are just as at home in a tropical mangrove forest. I posted another image of this bird, post mortem, here in August.
